Their full moniker is: Ets Sampic Père & Fils S.A.R.L., and this family owned business has been making among the finest hunting horns and whistles since 1913. I’ve cruised by their booth at the IWA Show year after year lusting after their stuff.., but we were selling the English whistles from Birmingham. But since the Brits were so complicated to deal with, I sat down with the very charming granddaughter of the founder, and let her tell me their story, while I fondled the various whistles and horns. In fact I made her blow each one for me, so I could hear ‘em all. (She thought that was pretty funny—then I realized what I had asked her to do, and cracked up myself). It turns out, that Elless supplies the Swiss, Swedish, Danish, and other militaries, along with various country’s police agencies, with their whistles… Fact is, there aren’t many whistle makers! Not only do these rank among the finest, they’re a pleasure to work with. Enjoy!
