VIENNA BRONZE (Wiener Bronzen)
“A Viennese tradition in artistic perfection”

Over the years, we have offered these delightful painted and un-painted Vienna Bronzes, of all different motifs, from the animal kingdom to the naughty, risqué and erotic. A Viennese tradition dating back to the 1850’s. Made by the Fritz Bergmann Co., Carl Becker & Co., Gebr. Gödde, Franz Bermann, and other companies. Since the turn of that century, to this day, these bronzes have been enormously desirable to collectors and have appreciated very handsomely. These days, you rarely see them for sale, anywhere. Production is spotty at best. The owners are getting real old and tired, way past retirement age. Hard to find young people interested in doing this kind of intricate work. Especially the painting. After dealing with these folks for over 20 years, I’m accepted as a member of the “family”, and am able to get pretty much what I want. My particular interests lie in the Fin- de-Siécle, Art Nouveau, and Art Déco periods. This time I’ve concentrated on some larger pieces. Many are unashamedly risqué and erotic. Exquisitely beautiful expressions of the human condition from a morally less constipated era. Don’t buy these at Phillips or Sotheby’s auctions, they’ll fetch too much. Expensive as they are here, if it matters, at our prices they’ll still amount to a sound investment in your lifetime!
